چکیده

HRV parameters and 6-minute walking test, functional capacity, right ventricular systolic function, BNP and hs-troponin-I levels. Most common cause of death in these patients is arrhythmia, and autonomic dysfunction may be triggering factor (2). HRV parameters are now being used for prognostic evaluation in PAH patients. There are also studies suggesting HRV reduction may be associated with mortality and need for transplant in children and poor prognosis in adults with idiopathic PAH (3). Considering the fact that our patients were clinically stable and were also under appropriate treatment, guideline-recommended prognostic markers were not severely affected, despite significantly reduced HRV parameters. As a result, HRV parameters may be an early marker of prognosis even before deterioration of currently suggested markers. These data suggest that HRV parameters can be utilized as an early marker of poor prognosis in ES patients, but additional prospective studies are needed. The limited number of patients and lack of long-term follow up are the major limitations of this study. Frequency-domain parameters would also provide additional benefit.

Assessment of Computer Regulation Thermography (CRT) as a Complemetrary Diagnostic tool for Breast Cancer Patient

Background: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women demanding accurate diagnosis to take remedial measures to treat. Objective: Comparing the diagnostic capability of the computer regulation thermography (CRT), as a novel and safe diagnostic procedure, with common methods including sonography, mammography and clinical examinations for diagnosing breast cancer in suspicious...

Crocetin and crocin decreased cholesterol and triglyceride content of both breast cancer tumors and cell lines

Objective: Inhibition of lipid metabolism in breast cancer has been suggested as an effective approach for cancer therapy. Saffron-derived crocetin (Crt) and crocin (Cro) with the known anticancer activity, have shown hypolipidemic effect in diabetes and atherosclerosis. Here, we investigated the effect of Crt/Cro on lipid content in breast cancer. Materials and M...

Effect of cardiac resynchronization therapy with implantable cardioverter defibrillator versus cardiac resynchronization therapy with pacemaker on mortality in heart failure patients: results of a high-volume, single-centre experience

AIMS There are limited and contradictory data on the effects of CRT with implantable cardioverter defibrillator (CRT-D) on mortality as compared with CRT with pacemaker (CRT-P). METHODS AND RESULTS We evaluated the long-term outcome of patients implanted with a CRT-D or CRT-P device in our high-volume single-centre experience. Data on all-cause mortality were derived from clinic visits and th...

Improvement in CRT: new strategies, better choices

Cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT) emerged more than a decade ago as a useful form of device therapy for heart failure associated with abnormal ventricular conduction indicated by a wide QRS complex [1, 2]. According to the Guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) entitled Cardiac Pacing and Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (ESC Clinical Practice Guidelines, 2013), CRT has c...

Background: Cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) has proved as an efficient treatment in patients with end stage Heart failure. Previous studies showed the beneficial long term effects of CRT on the severity of mitral regurgitation (MR). The aim of this study was to evaluate acute effects of CRT on severity of MR. Methods: This study was a double blind randomized trial performed from 1387 t...

3D-Conformal Radiation Therapy and Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy Techniques for Laryngeal Cancer Taking Parotid Glands as Organ at Risk

Background: Three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT) and intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) techniques are used for the treatment of patients with laryngeal cancer. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of these 2 treatment techniques on the planning target volume (PTV) (laryngeal cancer), dose homogeneity, dose of organs at...
